5 Things Not To Do On Christmas Day

Hey guys.

Doesn't everyone love christmas? I do. It's a time of year when you can relax, chill, have fun, not have to worry about school or homework or exams. However sometimes a few tiny things can just spoil the day for you and your family or friends.

So here we have the ultimate list: 5 things NOT to do on christmas day.

This will help you enjoy your day to the max!

1. Don't wake up too early
So this can be a hard one to avoid, especially if you have over-eager younger brothers or sisters (trust me I know the struggle - I have a 10 year old brother and 2 year old sister 😬 ) or even if you are just so excited to get the day started and prezzies opened! However setting your alarm for unreal hours (we're talking 3am - thanks bro) is the first way to make you ill all day and yawning over the turkey. A few years ago I woke up at about 4 by accident and therefore became ill and lost my voice for the whole day. Not amusing.

2. Don't overeat
This is an obvious one, but aside from just general health it can be a big problem. Most likely you will have quite a few big dinners over this season but getting used to this could get you into habits of eating too much. My advice - start with a decent amount on your plate and eat slowly. This probably means that you won't be the last to finish, and, coming from a VERY fast eater, makes it easier not to snack on the leftovers while others are finishing. Trust me it helps.

3. Don't open all your presents too soon
Again this is an obvious one that I guarantee your mum will tell you at least twice over the day. However it is true! If they are all gone in the first hour this leaves you with nothing to do for the rest of the day, so you play with your new toys or read your books or draw with your new pens. But a few days later the fun will have gone and you are left with another week of boring holiday left with all your gifts used up. Maybe gradually open them throughout the day, or even save some for boxing day.

4. Don't forget to wrap your presents or write your cards
I guess this is a bit of an individual thing but my mum hates it if we write her cards even the night before because it feels, to her, like she is forgotten and that we haven't made an effort. This can make your day go that little bit smoother without having to rush around in a mad panic trying to sort out last minute extras that you should have done a week earlier.

5. Don't spend all the day on social media
Nobody cares if you got a new iphone for christmas, or if you had turkey for lunch. There's no point in showing off your new stuff because, chances are, everyone else will be spending time with their own family. Also this is considered unsociable and if you are with friends and family, especially if you don't see them very often, you might miss out on valuable times and memories that you will regret later on.

So there's your 5 things not to do on christmas day! Have fun and remember these top tips so that you can have the best time possible.
